The Asian cultures are far more family / group oriented compared to united states individualism. As for cheating, Gw is one of the most cheat resistant games by design if they find ways around have the tools to quickly fix and ban people (as in recent Ascension bug) and the more randomizing to fight bot problems. In Final Fantasy XI, good japanese parties are far more numerious then good american parties due to there culture and working together where americans tend to be me me me. As to people losing interest, Gw is going to wax and wane. You have the initial "new" that draws the people to the newest game out there. If your only in to PvE and you beat the game twice, your likely to put the game away until the next expansion (which by the hint about stuff in the upcoming patch notes about ascension stuff and not forgotten in the work to prolong interest). I only see Gw suffering if an competitor can come up with a competing product that can match Gw (which I don't see at this time). Just issuing a price drop on the game would get a flood of new people too. I personaly gladly pay $50 for my PvE. I've spent this much on other non-pvp games and usually beat them and move on. I'm guessing that alot more teenagers play GW than adults right? Teens seem to have more time on their hands, since adults are mostly working (I'm not saying alot of adults don't play). So wouldn't it be obvious that alot of players aren't online as much because of exam time? We (ya I'm in high school) usually start preparing for exams with a month left of school (ie. end of may/beginning of june). Hopefully this solves your question.

not from what I can see. i still can't get into districts because they are full and I find my self starting in district 37 or sum shit all too often. American servers. Now I have some Guild mates that reside in Europe and sometimes we play on the international district which is really low on players it seems.

Ya, I go into international, I see zero people there, yup 0, so then I see a person and type in the 'all' channel "sup" then he goes "wow, finally a real person in this district!"
So, I partied with him and we had lots o fun, I found out what time it was in germany at that specific time and I managed to calculate what time 15:50 was |

i think Guild Wars will die off because of the reason that most players are gonna get ganked hardcore in PVP
fact is, you cannot succeed in Guild Wars PVP unless you happen to be in a very organized, knowledgable Guild full of dedicated players who come online all the time most players do not fit into that mold. once they realize that the chance of having any success in PVP (without first being in such a Guild) is virtually zero, then they are going to quit the game and even if they can organize a good PUG by fluke once in a blue moon - that doesn't help either because to do that usually takes 1hr+ and then after you've done one match, the group disbands because people have to go. hence the casual player is left having to go through that incredibly boring, agonizing, time-consuming process all over again every time he wants to do one single match of PVP hence they will get frustrated and quit. soon it will be only the hardcore PVP players left in Guild Wars easiest solution to this problem: put in 1vs1 PVP that lets you get all the same rewards that the other PVP mode gives you (fame etc.) Last edited by Navaros; Jun 24, 2005 at 01:14 AM // 01:14.. |

that would be good but what about a warrior/monk vs. a warrior/monk that might take a bit to complete also might get borin quick... some chars are better against other characters so if you vs the character you are bad against then you're screwed... BUT yes I do see teh good of depending on yourself!

Well, you just gotta admit, koreans are hardcore gammers. Just like what Santosh said, Koreans have an Elite gamming culture. Their minds are so stragetic with all of the gamming knowledge that they have. They are pretty much the competition in PvP with us anyways. Not only that, but they have players with, like what? gold medals in playing games? who knows. Being 1337 core gammers is in their blood. Probably runs in their families too. =]

Interesting fact: Korea has more residential broadband connections as a percentage of the population than any country in the world.

EXACTLY!!!! whether you wanna use the term racism, or stereotype(yes, much prettier) its all the same, you all talk on and on about how magically wonderful anyone from the korean server is, yet somehow people in the servers with such enormous disadvantages, like our primitive computers, and our horrible selfish attitudes still manage to win quite often, geez i guess their hacks quit working at a certain time of the day or something, or maybe they watched an american show on tv and their society instantly disolved.... either way, thank god we found a way past the super-race of videogame genious hackers...... |
